MARASCA, Cherry Lacquer Gloss

Marasca, batch one

A cherry, worn.

Cherry Lacquer is one shade of gloss in one small glass bottle. Keep scrolling and it comes to you.

  • 8 ml
  • One shade

It moves like oil.

Cold pressed castor seed oil carries the shine, so it falls in a thread instead of a bead and spreads in one pass.

  • Castor and shea

It sets like lacquer.

Forty seconds after the last step it stops moving and holds a mirror. No film, no tack, nothing to peel off later.

  • Never tacky
  • Four to five hours

Then it waits in a pocket.

We fill 1,200 bottles at a time and then stop. Leave an address below and we will hold your place in the queue.

The object

A cherry, worn.

Cherry Lacquer is one shade of gloss in one small glass bottle. It sits like lacquer, moves like oil, and leaves a mirror instead of a film. We make it twice a year and stop when the batch is gone.

Read the formula

Four things and nothing else.

The ingredient list is short on purpose. Everything in the bottle is there to hold shine without holding onto your hair.

Castor and shea

Cold pressed castor seed oil carries the shine. Shea butter keeps the edge soft so the gloss never sets crisp on the lip line.

Cherry, actually

The flavour is a distillate of marasca cherry rather than a sweetener, so it reads tart and slightly bitter instead of sugary.

No plumping heat

No capsicum, no menthol, no tingle. Comfort was the whole brief, and a gloss you can forget you are wearing is the result.

Clean glass

Vegan, no added fragrance beyond the distillate, filled in small batches and dated on the base of every bottle.

The ritual

Three steps, forty seconds.

  1. Blot

Start dry. Press your lips once with a tissue so there is nothing left for the gloss to slide on.

    5 seconds
  2. Press

One pass of the cushion from the centre outward, then press your lips together once and let go. Resist a second coat.

    15 seconds
  3. Seal

Trace the outer edge with the tip of the wand and leave it alone. It sets to a mirror while you finish getting ready.
